Sedation Dentistry Services in Wichita, Kansas
At Humlicek Dental, we want your dental experience to be as comfortable as possible. We offer several dental sedation options to enhance your experience and enable our staff to perform their duties more effectively.
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is the least invasive sedation method delivered through a small mask. It combines nitrous oxide and oxygen, leaving you feeling relaxed.
Oral sedation, on the other hand, ranges from minimal to moderate depending on the dosage. You’ll be given a pill to take orally approximately an hour before your treatment. It will make you feel drowsy and relaxed, without putting you to sleep.
Anesthesia can be administered in our office by a trained CRNA from Special Anesthesia Services. The medication is delivered directly into a vein, creating deep relaxation while you remain conscious but less aware. It works quickly, can be adjusted during treatment, and requires someone to drive you home afterward.

What is laughing gas and what does it do?
Laughing Gas, officially know as Nitrous Oxide, is a mild sedative that can help reduce your anxiety. It’s colorless and odorless gas and its usefulness stems from its ability to quickly work and safely reverse its effects. It is a widely considered safe dental sedation method. It will not put you to sleep.

What dental treatments is IV sedation typically used for?
Some patients choose to undergo more robust procedures under sedation, such as implants, root canals, and extractions. Others use it for cleanings or fillings, too. Sedation can really be customized for each person.

What is the IV sedation process at Humlicek Dental?
- Before scheduling IV sedation, we update your health history and communicate with SAS to determine eligibility.
- Before booking the sedation appointment, you’ll have a consultation at our office, during which we will review your treatment plan and financial details.
- On the day of your procedure, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will administer the medication and monitor you throughout the appointment.
